Tromso, Norway

We had a ceremony in the pool area celebrating the crossing of the Arctic Circle. Roughly that is 66 degrees and 33 minutes North Latitude.

The ceremony is called The Order of the Blue Nose. Much like the ceremony for crossing the Equator except there was no need to enter the water or kiss the fish. I still won’t drink the Aquavit. Too strong.

Then we went to lunch and were surprised that our friend Ogi from the Orion was serving lunch on the other side of the World Café. We got there too late to claim “our table”. So we went to the same location near the servers station just on the other side of the ship. There was Ogi. Ogi was the tall male in the photo. And he was the tall man who tried on the kimono in Japan during our Grand Pacific Cruise. His girl friend (another server) of the time didn’t like that he was photo’d in women’s clothing. They no longer are a couple. Hope we didn’t break them up. He still has a great smile. The other server remembered us and was also on the Orion. I just don’t remember him

We docked a bit late in Tromso. It was about 2 PM. Sunrise was at 11:46 and sunset at 12:01. Yes! 15 minutes of sunshine except that it was cloudy. I took a photo of the town from our veranda just after 2. This is what the city looked like on an early Wednesday afternoon.
