Malaysia

Hot and Humid. That is the story.

On the 19th we went to Langkawi, Malaysia. They have a famous statue of an eagle.

There are real eagles flying around but never close to the tourist area. This was my best photo.

We also drove past the Maha Tower. Interesting.

I enjoy many of the trees especially the flowering trees. This is a frangipani flower.

We also went to a rice museum including a field being planted and to a coconut area. We have been to many of these on this trip. Then a tender ride from the dock back to the ship. Lots of islands.

Singapore

We were in Singapore in 2019 but only for one day. This time we had 2 full days and the morning of March 17. We did not leave the ship the last day. Immigration into Singapore has been horrible every time we have been here. This time we did see the Merlion. Very famous!

We also saw the famous hotel with the ship on the roof.

Of course my favorite is the Helical Bridge that I call the Twisted Bridge.

Our second excursion was to the National Orchid Garden. I took roughly 100 photos of orchids. They were amazing. For the right amount of money, they will highbred a flower in your honor. Not for me.

To me this was my special photo.

Don’t forget dinner. I had Mountain & Bay.

Lamb chops, lobster risotto, baked potato with butter and chives and some green beans. Yum!

We had the Naughty Table in full force. Notice the sign. Most Wanted (our photos).

Koh Samui, Thailand

Our excursion was a bus trip to a large Buddhist Temple area, then to a large Budha and finally to a coconut plantation.

There were other buildings but this was the most ornate.

This is the name of the temple. WAT means temple.

Then to Giant Buddha.

Yes, we walked up these stairs.

Last.

Ho Chi Minh City again

We have been busy with excursions and the internet is very slow.

The traffic is horrible. The bus ride is an hour into the city and generally a little slower late in the afternoon returning to the ship. Motorcycles are everywhere including on the sidewalks. They do have interesting lights several places.

In the evening we had a special music performance by a Vietnamese troup.

We took the shuttle to the city so we could do some shopping. The Ben Thanh Market is huge and crowded. But we had fun and bought a bunch. Shirts, chocolate, and popup cards.

While walking around the city we saw Andrew, one of the Viking Restaurant Managers. So I took a photo with the Post Office as the background.

As we walked into the Cafe for dinner, we saw Casper. He had a Cheshire Cat look on his face. What was he up to? When we got back to our table, we figured it out.

Philip, the gentleman on the left, had made a special sign and posted it on a stand at our table. Philip had taken our photos probably from the Viking registry and photoshopped them by adding hats. Then he typed “The Most Wanted Nauties”. We have a reputation. Dinner was a hoot. Many people stopped by.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

We took an excursion called Scenic Ho Chi Minh. It was similar to an excursion we took in 2019. We saw Stark Tower again.

This building is still in Ho Chi Minh and NOT in New York City. Sorry Avenger fans.

We saw the bridge that we call the bridge to nowhere.

Did you see the photo I published in 2019.

Not much progress in 4 years.

For dinner I had lamb shwarma ( شاورما  ). I told Casper, the restaurant Manager, that he didn’t spell shwarma correctly since it was printed in English. So, I wrote it in Arabic and gave it to him.

It was served with kubz (pita bread) and tzatziki sauce. I put it together as a pocket sandwich.

Semarang, Indonesia

We have slow internet. So I will try a short blog.

We went to a coffee plantation that had many other interesting things. Like they had rubber trees and sold latex. There were cinnamon trees, papaya trees, cacao trees.

Then we rode a train through rice fields. Notice how they plow the fields.

March 4, 2023

We sailed away from Bali.

We did listen to a lecture on Tsunamis. It was somewhat interesting. But the highlight was the photo he used as his introduction..

The evening was Indonesian Night.

We had fun meeting with our favorite servers. They were in the spirit of the occasion.
