Panama Canal

December 29, 2022

The cruise across Panama includes three locks, a ride through a large jungle and then 3 more locks on the Pacific side. Some very interesting views of trees but not much else between the series of locks. However, every once in a while, there are places with people living there. Not for me!

Once we left the canal on the Pacific Ocean side, we could see a real city in the distance. I mean a huge city.

I always know I am on vacation when I take a photo of a helicopter. So here it is!

Dinner was back in the Cafe as usual. I had a steak cooked for me with some rice paella and green beans. But the special part was the dessert. I had a slice of Black Forest Cake.

When Viking served this cake during our Grand Pacific Cruise a passenger asked for German Chocolate Cake. The pastry chef had no idea what it is. So, Kathy gave him a recipe. Two days later he brought it to our table. No! We didn’t order it. Some other gentleman did. In a couple minutes we found him and had him join us at the naughty table. Long story from an earlier cruise.

Then we went to hear the Viking Vocalists signing Southern favorites.
